The film Dead Poets Society perfectly embodies the ideals of transcendentalism. It deals with the issue of expressing oneself and finding one's path in life, all while combating an overbearing pressure to conform. John Keating's controversial teaching methods affected the entire population of Welton academy. Keating described the importance of originality and making your own mark on the world. DPS shows how creativity and self-confidence can affect all aspects of one's life. It portrays both the positives and negatives of being an individual. You may disappoint others, but end up happier yourself.
