Home Alone is a movie about a child who was left alone in his house while his big family went on vacation. He was in the attic of the home and the case being that it is a big family, he was forgotten. This being the case, the poor little boy had to fend for himself at the house. Not only did he had to find food and shop by himself, he also had to deal with burglars who were trying to steal from the homes in the neighborhood (including his home). This movie expresses self-reliance since the kid had to rely solely on himself to survive.

I love this movie. This little boy had to be self reliant after his family accidentally forgot him. He was a little mischievous in his self reliance though ;-)

The movie home alone is a great comedy movie but it does show transcendentalism, with Kevin the main character showing self-reliance. With this he had to not only rely on himself he had to use is smartness that no regular kid couldn’t do even if they tried. When I watched this when I was little I tried to picture myself doing that but always messing up at least one part of each trap and or cleverness Kevin had to be safe. One which was my favorite was when he put the tarantula on one of the crooks face, it showed Kevin had to do whatever in order to survive and make his goals.

Omar you had made a comment to the difference of oppion on how Home Alone being about self-reliance but you did not prove why it is not transcendentilist. When you state something examples of how it is other things and along with your experince is some good backround but giving no support strays me away from your point. I agree with Dihaney in how this movie is about self-reliance. The kid grew and become self-reliant to the degree that he is living alone for 3 days and wards off two thieves who had robbed several houses before his. He went into a shop and bought food and other goods which is not normal for a kid his age suddenly left alone.

Home Alone is a good comedy movie The main character who is a little kid shows self reliance. He is accidentely left home by himself, happy at first but then feels lonely .Has to rely on himself for food and also has to deal with 2 burglars. He is a very smart kid for his age.

I love this movie. I never really thought about it being related to transdentatilism but its true. The way the kid, kevin, thinks beyond his usual boundaries an puts them into action to stop the evil burglars is awesome. I also think this movie proves Ralph waldo Emerson's point, "The sun illimunates the eye of the men, but shines in the eye and the heart of the child." As in the men being the burglars; thay know the kid is setting traps for them and yet they fall into them, they dont pay attention to the details, think freely(the sun illuminates the eye). The child of course is kevin;he becomes self reliant because of the situation he is thrown in.In essence instead of crying about his situation he makes lemonade when lemonades are thrown at him ;D.(the sun illuminates the eye and the heart)

When i was younger i always liked watching this movie for Kevin's humor and all the pranks he pulled on the burglar .When his parents leave him behind instead of freaking out he became self-reliance and took control of the situation . Kevin did everything a normal man did at his house ,protecting it ,feeding himself and various other things.
