I really enjoyed this movie, i liked how funny it was, especially the ignorance, innocence, and even confusion from many of the citizens from Pleasantville. I also thought the overall message from the movie was great.

In this movie both Jennifer (Mary Sue) and David (Bud) show the citizens of Pleasantville that change is good for everyone. This meaning they show them non-conformity. All of the citizens of Pleasantville are used to living the same routine their whole lives that is until Jennifer and David teach them to change and that things don't always have to be the same. A perfect example of this was when Bud showed Bill Jonson, the owner of the Soda Shop in Pleasantville, that he could do things differently in his shop, Bill starts to like the change and soon confesses to Bud that he loves to paint the mural for Christmas because every year it is something different.

David and Jennifer also help the people of Pleasantville to trust themselves and their ideas, self-reliance. The people of Pleasantville start to do what they want to do and start to trust themselves. They stop doing things they did that meant little to them and start doing important things. Jeniffer, who helped during this process started to read and realized how much she enjoyed it. When she did this, like many others she turned to color instead of the usual black, white, and grey.

Thinking freely was something new to these people, but with the help from David and Jeniffer was made possible. Betty Parker was one of the persons who decided to explore on her own, she decided to leave her house and follow her heart when she decides to go to Bill's Soda Shop. Although the idea of having things differently confused George, (Betty's husband) Betty knew she was the only one that could make her decisions and tradition did not matter
