michyeomichyeo.tumblr.com/post/4203446345/ever-wonder-why-you-have-such-profound-thoughts-in-theEver wonder why you have such profound thoughts in the shower? It’s because once we get in, we get away from all of the empty noise around us. The media tells us to buy this, buy that, look like this and look like that. The governing bodies go beyond ensuring our rights as human beings and try to force us all into one code of ethics. Religion goes even further to scare individuals into obeying their skewed ethic systems. With so many people screaming in our ears what we should be, it becomes nearly impossible to have a free thought to ourselves. And so these repressed ideas and emotions lash out at us during our commutes, our showers, and the moments we spend staring up at the ceiling at night. It’s simply too much for us to handle. It’s no wonder, then, that people lay awake at night unable to sleep, that we have unexpected fits of rage and depression. We’re simply unable to express them in the world we have created for ourselves. And what kind of society is that? This talks about how our current society does not allow us to think freely. To be able to get any actual thinking and, eventually, transcending, we must remove ourselves from the influences of society. Like the trancendentalist who removed themselves from society to be able to listen to their own thoughts, we must also attempt to do so. The shower is usually where this moment of epiphany happens.

So when you step in the tub, you are isolating yourself from everybody else and enter your own world. The falling water rinses away all of your troubles from life and gives you a feeling of liberation from that 'load'. I agree with what you said and I love the connection made to our society.
