"...You just gotta ignite, the light, and let it shine Just own the night like the 4th of July 'Cause baby you're a firework Come on, show 'em what you're worth Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh" As you shoot across the sky-y-y Baby, you're a firework Come on, let your colors burst Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh" You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe You don't have to feel like a waste of space You're original, cannot be replaced If you only knew what the future holds After a hurricane comes a rainbow..." ExplanationThis song goes with self reliance because it tells people that they have to learn to make the most out of time by accomplishing great things in their lifetime. It tells people to be able to trust their own person and do what they believe is right. It also states that they are not a waste, helping each person realize that they are important which brings them inner trust. The future is compared to a rainbow symbolizing happiness because they decide to have self-reliance leading to a better future. Lastly when it says "...and let it shine. Just own the night like a 4th of July..." it advises people to have confidence in their actions and thoughts and to express themselves freely.

This song really does go into this category because it talks of being you and no one else.

This song really goes along with the self-reliance catagory. This song is expressing someones own high worth and originality. When it mentions "Baby, you're a firework, come on, let your colors burst" it makes me think of ones own importance, making me believe everyone is important. Everyone has a bright firework inside themselves, so know one shines brighter or dimmer than others. Yet, your own firework is important to you and depends on oneself. Without someone a firework cant shine.

This song belongs in the self-reliance category for many reasons. For starters its describing no matter how hard your life is you have to overcome it. The only way to do that is by opening up and telling your point in life, opening up and britening up like a "firework". Trutsting yourself no matter what.

I love how such a modern song can express a common Transcendentalism characteristric like self-reliance. Firework express a lot of emotions in it's lyrics like how you described Melissa, you showed how it's saying to be yourself and "out there" which I completely agree with, I also loved your connections.
