To live a life the way an individual person chooses, that is what Chris did. He did what few give little thought too. He lived his way not being influenced by anyone's opinion but his own. Despite what everyone else thought, he was happy and he enjoyed every moment of it. His thinking is transcendental thinking in and of itself, almost from start to finish this is transcendental based movie.

I do agree with you that Chris was not influenced by anyone, which is what made his plan to go to Alaska work. If he had been influenced by anyone throughout the whole movie he would have given up right then. But I did like how he was never influenced by the people around him.
