I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation You're living in the past it's a new generation A girl can do what she wants to do and that's What I'm gonna do An' I don't give a damn ' bout my bad reputation I don't give a damn 'Bout my bad reputation I've never been afraid of any deviation An' I don't really care If ya think I'm strange I ain't gonna change An' I'm never gonna care 'Bout my bad reputation
this song is about a girl telling people to understand that she doesnt care what they think and encourages other girls to think freely. The song was published at a time when girls dint have as many privilages as today, so, by expresing this message shows confidence, self reliance.

I agree with you Jennifer, this song shows self reliance and nonconformity. At the time girls were supposed to be proper but she wasn't, she didn't want to conform to what other people wanted girls to be like. She doesn't care what people say about her or how she should be.
